Miss Olivia Bland!

For anyone whose faith in the human race might be flagging, here's a short tale that will restore your belief that maybe people aren't all bad after all. Regular readers will be aware of our ongoing travails with the local library. All we had was the innocent desire to set the ink running through Olivia's veins from an early age, and in the process we've had to endure library based crying fits and the threat of Olivia being taken into care because we forgot to return some books.

For the last few weeks, after I made the fatal mistake of entrusting it to Cath, Olivia's library card has been missing. For one such as myself this is akin to mislaying ones very soul, and it has occasioned much angst on my part, but funnily enough not an iota on Cath's. Today I resolved that the issue had to be sorted and went down to the library to get a replacement card.

After a grovelling explanation and apology for the non-return of our books, I reported Olivia's card missing. The libararian ran a standard check on the card, and we discovered that, lo and behold, it had been found in Sainsbury's and had been returned to the library. As Olivia and her library card were reunited I could have wept for gratitude, and would like to thank that anonymous soul who took the trouble to hand the card in. Truly, you have proved that the flame of human kindness, though it may waver from time to time, will never be extinguished. And from now on, I'll look after the card, not Cath.
