While the rest of the online world downsizes to Twitter where everything can be said in a compact 140 characters we're proudly flying the flag for yesterday's phenomenon - the blog. It's the Easter hols and, towering stack of coursework that needs rubberstamping with grades aside, a sese of summertime wafts in, with the positive vibes getting additional help from theat genius stroke of Federico Macheda's boot, and the fact that yesterday was both my birthday and the best day for new album releases of the year (Bat for Lashes! Yeah! Doves! Double yeah! Yeah Yeah Yeahs...Erm..Triple yeah!).
Anyway where was i? With Mummy still incarcerated at work, Olivia and I had the day to ourselves and she insisted that we spend it by rushing out to procure the new Doves masterpiece. I was powerless to resist. I sweetened the deal by promising Olivia a trip to the library. Her eyes positively glowed with anticipation when i told her this. The English teacher in me would like to imagine that this is because the love of books surges through her veins. It does, but that alone couln't explain such excitement. Nor was it the promised trip to see the fishes, much as she enjoys this.
No, what accounted for her surfeit of joy, was the remembrance that en route to the aquarium is a wheelchair ramp that Olivia would joyfully run up and down for hours at a time given the chance. The fact that it's pretty much deserted most of the time means I can set to whichever book i've picked up upstairs, while Olivia contravenes all know health and safety laws by hurtling up and down the ramp. Bliss for both of us. This and the Doves to listen to back in the car. What more can life offer?
And I probably could have said all that in 140 characters, but where's the fun in that?
