Another snap from the present unwrapping frenzy that was Christmas morning. A few things to note from the image above:

1) The presence of the video camera. A few weeks ago we filmed Olivia's first ever bath (or first one at home anyway). This short clip could well rank as the most embarrassing piece of video footage in the whole world ever - and i'm including such classics as the beating of Rodney King, Paris Hilton's sex tape, and United's performance at Southend a couple of months ago in the running here. Olivia herself has nothing to be ashamed of, the problem's with me and Cath. Indeed if this video ever surfaces in the world at large, then we would have no option but to find a monastery somewhere and seek refuge from the world's laughter.

Undettered by this, we videoed Christmas morning and I'm sure this will turn out to be equally embarrassing. One night soon, fortified by huge amounts of booze and the diamorphine I scored Cath as a surprise Christmas present (well she did so like it during labour, that I thought one or two tiny tea-spoon's full can't be that dangerous can they...), we will watch the things back, and the sound of us creasing ourselves into a tiny ball with shame will be heard as far away as Oldham.

Note to self: When video-taping don't use put on baby voice. And don't beat up innocent black men by the side of the road.

2) Don't be alarmed into thinking that Olivia is shrinking. That bib is huge.

3) Complete lack of interest in this whole Christmas business on Olivia's face. I said we should have got her one of those Wii things. That would have made her smile.
