Now we are six...

Another milestone reached at precisely 1:38 am this morning when Olivia turned 6 weeks old. A few weeks ago I was informed by a woman at work that babies start to smile the very second they turn six weeks. This nugget of information was duly filed in the mental folder marked, 'Stuff I've been told that has no scientific validity but I'm happy to believe anyway,'. In fact this folder is veritably bulging with things I've been told since Olivia was born, such as the fact that it's quite alright to let your baby sleep all night if they appear happy to do so. Basically if we want to believe it, it goes in the folder, if we don't it's filtered into the mental trash folder.

But back to the smiling business. I was conscious of the fact that Olivia's grinning could be slightly deferred due to her being weighed down with anxiety about United's clash with Benfica tomorrow night, but truth told, she is doing a magnificent job of pretending to be blithely indifferent to our potential eviction from the Champions League. Such acting chops already, clearly her Mother's daughter.

And sure enough as we roused her for early morning feed for the first time post six-weeks, an enormous smile spread across her face. Another triumph for received wisdom! Alas i was too groggy to dash for the camera, so you'll have to make do with her serious face instead. But believe me, the smile is worth waiting to see.
