So what else is new? Olivia has graduated from the Baby Bears Room at Nursery to Toddlers, meaning that Daddy no longer has to faff aound with his shoelaces outside the door for ten minutes every visit. In one of her final memorable acts in Baby Bears Olivia managed the rare feat of impressing all the nursery assistants with her knowledge while simultaneously making them wonder just what kind of half-arsed parenting she's being subjected to.
I've long fretted about Olivia's fondness for TV. My fears were only enhanced recently when it was reported in the news that France had banned TV targetting those under 3 due to overwhelming scientific evidence of its harmful effects. While I too am suspicious of Archie's motives in hanging around a nursery kitted out in a dress,a blanket ban does seem extreme.
When someone at Nursery selected a Ceebeebies CD as the soundtrack for one of their dance sessions, little did they realise that Olivia would think it was some kind of Pub Quiz Music Round in which the object was to name the TV show after only the briefest of musical snippets. But name them all she did. When informed of her talent on picking her up, pride and shame tussled for the upperhand in my feelings. Naturally, me teaching Media Studies for a living and everything, pride won out. And if she's obese and menopausal by 14 as the gallic boffins claim she will be, well I'll just have to live with it.
